The next meeting is Wednesday, August 5th, from 6:30 - 9:00 P.M., in the Arts Room / basement of the Tippe Arts Federation Building.  Doors will be open between 6:15 - 6:30 p.m.  (Doors are locked after this time; please call Diana if you arrive late to gain entry.)

Item #2.  Requests for Spinning Demonstrators

·        THANK YOU to Deb R., Ella S., Ashley D., Linda C., Dagmar F., Becky P., Glynis B., Elise T., Adrianna R., Lauren M., and Diana H. for volunteering to demonstrate spinning at the Tippecanoe County Fair.  They always like to have us demonstrating on site during the Fair!

·        A huge THANK YOU to Becky P. and Glynis B.  for getting up so early to demonstrate spinning at the Stockwell Homesteaders Market Day!!

·        Saturdays, May 23 through Sat, Sep 12 - Saturdays 1 pm - 4 pm Canal Days, Wabash & Erie Canal, Delphi, IN. Spinners are invited to come spin any Saturday afternoon during "Canal Days" season.  See Linda C. for more information.   Special request for this Saturday, July 4th!!

·        Sat, Aug 29 (11 am – 3 pm) The Farm at Prophetstown State ParkPurdue Homesteaders Day.  Requesting volunteers to inform Prophetstown.

·        Upcoming in September:  Sat, Sep 19 (11 am - 3 pm) The Farm at Prophetstown State Park, Country Fair.

Item #3.  Feast Updates

  • Feast tents replacing pole shelters.  First on the list will be entertainment areas this year. Our craftsperson area is not included, but will remain as a pole shelter this year. On the list next year to convert to a tent.

Item #4.  Meeting Notices

  • Help Needed!  To rearrange the room at the beginning and end of each meeting.  In order to fit members + wheels, please move &/or stack tables and place chairs to make a large round circle of spinners in the opened room.  Please keep at least one (or two) table(s) near the back wall outlets for use by those with e-spinners.

Item #5.  Show & Tells

  • Please share your show and tells -- (purchased or prepared) fibers, yarns you've spun, finished items you've made, etc.
  • In particular: If you took spinning lessons with Diana H., what final project or blended yarn or dyed yarn did you produce?  Please share!

Meeting Program –  The Frog Hair Competition (aka, Spinning REALLY Thin)

If you plan to participate, please bring:

·       Your wheel (or drop spindle)

·       Empty bobbin

·       Fine wool (e.g., Merino, Rambouillet, etc.) for practice (before the “competition” begins!)

·       (Remember how to do Andean plying!)
