- Fiber Festivals
- The Michigan Fiber Festival is coming right up -- August 14 - 18. Lots of classes, demos, fiber to purchase.
- Tippecanoe County Fair -- spoke with Mindy Swank (contact for us at the fair) about why spinners were unable (unwilling) to attend, hoping we will be granted better access for equipment drop off / pick up in the future. How did the Lacemakers do with their demo at the fair (Dagmar)?
- Mark your calendars a month+ in advance for spinning demonstrations at The Farm at Prophetstown State Park. Their Country Fair event will be Saturday, September 21, from 11 am to 3 pm.
- As previously mentioned, Feast Application was sent in /check was cashed (confirming receipt of our application), but no "letter of acceptance" yet received. Weavers? Lacemakers?
- Any other items?
- Show & Tell ... handspun yarns, finished items (knitted, crocheted, woven), other.

Spinning Very Short-Stapled Fibers (e.g., Yak) (e.g., Camel, Cashmere, Bison, Qiviut, etc.)

Blending Long and Very Short Fibers on Handcards (e.g., Silk & Yak), then Spinning Them
- If you plan to participate, please bring:
- your spinning wheel or drop spindle
- handcards
- scissors
- a 1/4" dowel or long knitting needle that is about 1/4" diameter
- any long-stapled and very short-stapled fibers you'd like to try out with the demonstrated techniques (limited amounts of these fibers will be provided).
